Singer/Songwriter - Surrender
A musical journey into the soul, Surrender, is a spiritual exploration of love lost and found again - a compilation of 14 original songs from singer/songwriter Anthony Garcia.
Lush and emotionally intense, Surrender is a big band, eclectic mix of Jazz, Samba, Bossa Nova, Pop, Country and Folk genres. Yet, at its core, one sweet, melodic voice caresses every word.
Garcia's own personal surrender in the face of love echoes in Surrender's heartfelt lyrics, and he admits he was profoundly inspired by the poetry of Rumi:
"Gamble everything for love - Half-heartedness does not reach into majesty."
Yet Garcia's musical influences go beyond the 13-century poet. Surrender draws its inspiration from such musical icons as Carlos Jobim and Bob Marley; legendary crooners Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet, to folk rocker Cat Stevens.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Garcia grew up in a culturally rich and vibrant Portuguese community, and was exposed to the music of Portugal and Brazil early on - music, which also deeply influenced him as an artist.
Garcia attended Humber college Music where he studied the classics in Jazz and popular music, and he currently performs in clubs in and around toronto. His latest release Surrender, a tender, yet powerful collection of love songs, will no doubt strike a chord among his growing fan base.
